Numerical Decomposition of a Convex Function 1

Given the n x p orthogonal matrix A and the convex function f : R"-~ R, we find two orthogonal matrices P and Q such that f is almost constant on the convex hull of ± the columns of P, f is sufficiently nonconstant on the column space of Q, and the column spaces of P and Q provide an orthogonal direct sum decomposi t ion of the column space of A. This provides a numerical ly stable algorithm fo...

Regularizing the Abstract Convex Program

fi = inf( p(x) : g(x) E 4, x E R 1, P) where S is an arbitrary convex cone in a finite dimensional space, R is a convex set, and p and g are respectively convex and S-convex (on a), were given in [lo]. These characterizations hold without any constraint qualification. They use the “minimal cone” .S’ of (P) and the cone of directions of constancy D;(S’). In the faithfully convex case these cones...

The asymmetries of colour constancy as determined through illumination discrimination using tuneable LED light sources

reveals " blue " bias for colour constancy in real and simulated scenes. On calculating metamer sets for spectrally tunable LED illuminators. Are colour constancy mechanisms biased for typical illuminations? AIC 2013. Abstract The light reflected from object surfaces changes with the spectral content of the illumination. Despite these changes, the human visual system tends to keep the colours o...

Three-dimensional characteristic approach for incompressible thermo-flows and influence of artificial compressibility parameter

In this paper the characteristics of unsteady three-dimensional incompressible flows with heat transfer are obtained along with artificial compressibility of Chorin. At first, compatibility equations and pseudo characteristics for three-dimensional flows are derived from five governing equations (continuity equation, Momentum equations in three directions, and energy equation) and then results ...

Four issues concerning colour constancy and relational colour constancy are briefly considered: (1) the equivalence of colour constancy and relational colour constancy; (2) the dependence of relational colour constancy on ratios of cone excitations due to light from different reflecting surfaces, and the association of such ratios with von Kries’ coefficient rule; (3) the contribution of chroma...
